Professor Kirsty Pringle

Director

Professor Kirsty Pringle is Director of the Gomeroi Gaaynggal Study.

Kirsty was born in Adelaide where she completed her PhD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
In 2008 Kirsty took a post-doctoral position with the University of Newcastle where she now heads her own research team- The Pregnancy and Placental Biology Group.

Kirsty is passionate about pregnancy and reproduction research and has been involved with the Gomeroi Gaaynggal Study since it began in 2007.

Ashley Bullock

First Nations Research Assistant

Ash is a First Nations Research Assistant working with the Gomeroi Gaaynggal Study.

Ash is Gomeroi Woman from Tamworth, and has lived and worked on Gomeroi lands all her life.

Ash has a background in nursing, and is currently studying Cert IV in Aboriginal research and theory practice at the Lowitja Institute.

Ash has a passion for improving the health of Aboriginal and/or Torres strait Islander people.

Dr Saije Endacott

Project Manager/Research Associate

Saije is a an Early Career Researcher who has been working with the Gomeroi Gaaynggal Study for the past two years.

Saije grew up in Port Macquarie, but moved to Newcastle for University where she completed her PhD in Medical Biochemistry at the University of Newcastle (awarded in 2021).

After this Saije started working as a Project Manager with the Gomeroi Gaaynggal Study.

Saije is passionate about pregnancy and First Nations health research.

Amity Smith

First Nations Research Assistant

Am is a First Nations Research Assistant working with the Gomeroi Gaaynggal Study:

Am is a Gomeroi woman from Tamworth Quirindi area and I worked and lived on Gomeroi lands my whole life.  

Am has a background in Administration and is currently completing certificate 4 in Advance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primacy Health Care at Tamworth TAFE Campus.

It is Am’s passion to work in an environment to improve health for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

The Gomeroi Gaaynggal Advisory Committee

The Gomeroi Gaaynggal Advisory Committee consists of members of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, Elders, former research participants, members of the Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council (TLALC) and Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service (TAMS).

Professor Donna Hartz

Donna is a descendent of the Kamilaroi (Gomeroi) nation. Donna is the Professor and Clinical Chair in Midwifery at Western Sydney University, a midwife and nurse.

Reakeeta Smallwood:

Reakeeta is a proud Calala murri yinarr within the Gamilaroi nation. Reakeeta is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing (Indigenous and Population Health) at the University of Sydney, Registered Nurse and PhD student.
